Why is string instrument set-up important ?

There are many adjustments on a stringed instrument that change both the ease of playing and the sound quality.

String Position relative to each other changes the ease of bowing a single string, bowing from one string to another and cleanly stopping the strings with the fingers.

String Height above the finger board affects comfort; ease of playing, quality of tone.

Bridge Fit and dimensions change the volume and tone.		Why is string instrument set-up important ?
Fingerboard Shape is critical to a clean sound. It is a compound curve that often requires adjustment in the workshop.

Sound Post fit and position within the instrument body plays a major role in sound production. It changes; the tone between hard and mellow; adjusts the balance between treble to bass. A correctly placed sound post will also enable free and easy tone production.
string2 Strings make a large contribution to the quality of sound. Many instruments benefit from a particular type of string to release their full potential. We offer selected upgrade string sets for particular instruments.

Pegs must be fitted to turn smoothly but firmly. This allows the player to easily adjust and maintain the tuning of the instrument.
