This model has ebony finger board and pegs. Comes complete with lightweight case and P&H or better quality wood bow.

There is not a huge difference between the Student II and the Student I. However, The ebony fingerboard is a definate bonus. Ebony is a very hard dense wood that has two advantages with fingerboards.
Firstly it allows the technician to easily make adjustments in the shape and profile which can affect the sound quality.
Secondly,the string being stopped against the fingerboard is in contact with a harder substance than with the coated fingerboard, This can also affect sound quality as less energy from the string is absorbed into the fingerboard
The strings are also upgraded to a rope core which is generally better sounding.
