About Us Courtney and Walker are a family run company now in the third generation.
The history of the firm dates back to 1936 when Madam Courtney opened
an accordian shop in Portsmouth called 'Courtney's Accordians'.
In 1947 Wilfred Walker joined the company as co-teacher and in 1952 entered
into the company and Courtney and Walker was formed. For many years we
were a specialist accordian firm, selling, repairing and teaching accordian.
Madam Courtney also had an accordian band. After this, under Jeff Walker
(2nd generation) the firm took a direction as a general music shop.
The third generation run by Paul Walker and staff, sees the firm specialising
in five distinct parts;
- Woodwind and Brass
- Violins and Strings
- Pianos and Electric Pianos
- Guitars (accoustic, classical and folk instruments)
- Sheet Music
And of course we also hold a huge range of accessories for all these
instruments.
We have two on site workshops which provide excellent backup for the
products we sell, with technicians specialising in brass, woodwind, stringed
instruments and guitars.
We aim to provide a full and specialist service in these areas.
